Working your body, clearing your head and leaving feeling a little lighter, taller, stronger and confident in your body.

October has been one of the studio’s busiest months to date, and we have had a little re-shuffle of the diary to ensure that you get your preferred time reservation, wherever possible.

Thank you for being just the best clients to teach. Seeing how much you enjoy your Pilates, honestly makes me love teaching you all the more! 💜

Every once in a while, you find a teacher and just know you want to learn more from them. I knew this from my very first workshop with Daphne.

I am coming to the end of the most wonderful first part of a mentorship with @daphnepilatesldn , and feeling very grateful and inspired!

The little details of each exercise is where the magic happens, and I have loved spending time on fine-tuning those.

Getting back in the studio to share the work with my wonderful clients is the most rewarding thing of all, and we are back in the studio from tomorrow morning.
I can’t wait to see you 💜

We have been back in the studio for a few days now after my summer break, and I absolutely love being back doing Pilates with you.

There is something about September that feels a little bit like going back to school. New pencil case, new school bag, a fresh start and getting back into a routine.

I am also starting to look longingly at my knitted jumpers and woolly socks.
Although I do miss the light in the mornings and evenings, there is something really comforting about switching on a little lamp in the evening and settling into a bit of autumnal coziness.(I guess you can take the girl out of Scandinavia, but you can never take Scandinavia out of the girl 😊).

And September is a good time to have a little look at our routines.

Maybe your routine has slipped a bit over the summer. Maybe it hasn’t.
Either way, there is no need for a dramatic overhaul. Sometimes it is just about getting back to the things that make us feel our best.

So, if I have not seen you yet this week, I cannot wait to see you back in the studio.

And if you are feeling that little September reset too, let’s do it together. 💜

Exercise in midlife does not have to be only about preparing for old age.

It can help you feel stronger, freer, lighter and more confident in your body now, while building the foundations for a strong and capable future.

We are not looking to turn back the clock. We are looking to feel good in the body we have now, and to keep building the best version of ourselves as life moves forward.

Because getting older is not necessarily about becoming less. There can be a lot more to discover about what your body can do. 💜

You might not realise there is another side to my Pilates teaching.

You won’t usually see me dressed as a clinician — I dress like a Pilates teacher because that is how I see myself, it is what I am, and have been for 30 years.

(Although, if you pop over to my Stories, you’ll see the clinical version of me looking rather different.)

But I am also a Chartered Physiotherapist, with years of experience as a Senior Physiotherapist in both the NHS and private practice.

My clients find this re-assuring as it means I can look beyond the movement in front of me. If something changes, I can draw on my clinical experience to assess what’s going on — and, when appropriate, that can include a full clinical/neurological assessment.

I can also help make sense of things you have been told by your consultant, understand unfamiliar terminology in a scan report, liaise with your GP or other healthcare professionals, and recognise when something needs further medical investigation.

But I have never been one for complicated language for the sake of it. I want you to understand what I am telling you, in a way that makes sense to you and your life. Because you are not simply a diagnosis or a collection of muscles and bones — you are a whole wonderful person.

I never replace your doctor or consultant, but I can often help join the dots.

One of my long-standing clients once watched me switch into “physio mode” when her symptoms changed and said:

“Gosh, you really know what you’re doing, don’t you?”

She made me laugh.

Because I realised she had suddenly seen the other side of me.

And actually, that combination of 30 years of Pilates teaching and a substantial clinical physiotherapy career is something I am very proud to bring into my private sessions to help you live your life better. 🤍

One of the things I love most about my work is knowing which exercises your body needs, so that we can build balanced strength without creating unnecessary tension or bulk.
It is completely possible to be strong without feeling pumped up, and this was the very reason I fell in love with Pilates the way it was taught to me.

It made me feel different, look different and move differently from any other exercise I had ever done before.
And I was a full time dancer at the time (in the early nineties), so I was used to moving. A lot.

But working out in the Pilates studio was different and really changed my body.
And there is nothing better than passing this on to you, so you can feel this too.

Strong yet lengthened, with space around the joints and a real sense of freedom in your movement. 🤍

Have you met the Push through bar on the Cadillac?

It gives you something to reach into, helps guide your body towards where it needs to go, and gives you so many ways to progress your movement.

Did you know that the Cadillac is also such a great place to progress your Reformer work, using all the different attachments to explore movement in a slightly different way?

Many of my clients love the Cadillac even more than the Reformer, as it gives your body a steady supportive base while being able to explore movement in all directions with so many options of challenging the body.🤍

One of the things I love about private Pilates sessions is that I can guide you be more in control of your workouts.

You will no longer be doing an exercise and just hoping it will do what you want it to do.
You can actually feel it.

I want you to know what each exercise is doing.

Where you should feel it. Which muscles you are switching on. What we are trying to achieve. And how small adjustments can completely change what you are getting from the movement. (And when I can see you starting to make those little adjustments yourself, it makes my heart sing 💕).

When you practise like this consistently, you will literally feel and see the physical changes happening.

You feel stronger. You feel freer in your joints. You stand taller. You feel lighter in your body. You move more easily. You can feel your muscles becoming stronger and your body becoming lengthened and more open.

You came to me because you wanted some kind of change in your body, and the best part of my job is teaching you how to create those changes.
Not by guesswork, but by getting you to feel those changes happening one exercise at a time 💜

The Baby Chair is a favourite with my clients. The support it gives helps you tune into your body and focus on where the work should be coming from.
Strength, control, and those little lightbulb moments when the right muscles switch on.
And it leaves you about an inch taller and feeling so open across the chest and shoulders. 💜

You don’t have to choose between classical and contemporary Pilates.

My sessions are rooted in the foundations of classical Pilates, while drawing on contemporary approaches where they best support your body.

Every session is tailored to you, because that is what matters most.
It’s all about you 💜

𝘍𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳. 𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 💜

One of the things I love about Pilates is that the effect never wears off.

Whether it’s your first session or your hundredth, you will still feel challenged. You will still leave feeling taller, stronger, lighter, and more connected to your body after each and every workout.

The immediate benefits are there every single time.

Over time, those effects begin to accumulate. Your strength builds, your movements become easier, you find yourself moving differently, and you start to feel and see your body changing.

But the immediate effect of each session is still the same. You never become immune to that post-Pilates feeling of being stronger, longer, lighter, and somehow just a little more put back together.

You can literally change how you feel in your body in just one hour.
Turn a sluggish day into a feel-good day.

It is one of the reasons I love teaching one-to-one sessions. Every session is tailored to how you’re feeling that day, so you can walk out of the studio feeling your best.

It’s not about chasing harder workouts. It’s about consistently feeling better. 💜
